Utah Pride Festival History Zone

In 2010, I developed the inaugural exhibit for the Utah Pride Festival History Zone.  This initial exhibit looked towards the past, the present, and the future. LGBTQ student groups at colleges and universities from across the state contributed profiles of queer historical figures merged together in the form of a set of quilted wall-hangings.   A large banquet display with the theme of “A Seat at the Table” examined a different civil rights issue at each place setting ranging from marriage equality to non-discrimination.

2011’s “Windows to the Past” exhibit, prepared in collaboration with graphic designer Scott Nicholson, examined queer Utah and United States history from the colonial period to 1950.  This exhibit featured the incredible research of queer Mormon historians Connell O’Donovan and D. Michael Quinn.
